The Book Sale

Book Sale

Friday 6/10/22: 9am - 4pm
Saturday 6/11/22: 9am - 3pm

You’ve been waiting for it, and we are happy to announce that we are preparing for our next Book Sale! COVID prevented us from having the sale for a couple of years. During that time, we ran into some other logistical problems, such as loss of volunteers and recycling-center book-donation requirements. These issues led us to change to format of the sale.

We have renovated our Book Garage and will hold the sale there. Although it is a smaller space, we intend to have a sale three to four times a year instead of only once. This will allow you several opportunities to shop for the books you are interested in.

We have a large selection of modern Fiction, Children’s, and Nonfiction books, as well as many cool items for our antiquarian collectors. Our objective for this coming sale will be to deplete our HUGE overstock of incredible titles so that we may begin accepting donations once again. To help us achieve this goal, all books during this sale are half-price!

Due to the current volume of donated books, the book sale committee has opted not to accept additional book donations at this time. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.  Interested in more information regarding future book donations? Click here.

The Book Sale History

For over six decades St. Francis has hosted a spring used book sale, with the entire proceeds going to support community organizations. This open, three-day event welcomes thousands of friends and neighbors to peruse close to 60,000 volumes for sale, with categories including current fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, history, art, classics, sports, health, how-to, coffee-table books, books on CD, vinyl records, and more. We also have a large children's area with books, games, and puzzles for all ages.

In our last large sale, we raised more than $55,000, and proceeds were donated to organizations such as Malachi House II, Reading Connections, Wheels4Hope, Rise Against Hunger, Greensboro Urban Ministry, and Sanctuary House.
