The EYC / JEYC's mission trip youth will be working with the United Methodist Relief Center again helping families in the Charleston, South Carolina area.
The dates are: JEYC trip is June 20 - 26, 2010. and EYC trip is July 18 -24, 2010.

Summertime is here and time for vacations, pool time, no homework, and hanging out with friends. However, for the youth of St. Francis, summertime brings about another reason that this is our favorite time of year: Mission Trips! Every year it seems that the mission trip acts as the end point for our year of experiences within EYC.
Our group will again be working with UMRC out of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Many of you saw our presentations in the fall about our trips and the work and experiences that we have had on these trips. We all originally sign up for a mission trip thinking that we are going to serve others, and our group does a great job of doing just that. However, the blessings that we receive from this type of work far exceed our expectations every year. The youth are blessed by the people they are working for and by their fellow EYC members. The adults are blessed both by the families that we serve in South Carolina and by the amazing spirit of service that we see in each and every youth in our group. Many parents are never blessed with the opportunity to see their youth serve in such a great capacity. It is a talent that in many cases was begun with the parents, has been nurtured by their experiences at St. Francis, and will hopefully continue to grow for many years to come.

Serving others is a very important part of being a Christian. Jesus said that when you have done this for the least of these you did this for me. We see Christ through service and our group exhibits this every year with our Mission Trips.

Every summer we have 2 Mission Trips for our youth groups, one for EYC and one for JEYC. The past 3 summers we have worked with United Methodist Relief Center doing work in the Charleston SC area. We have put new roofs on houses, painted many houses both inside and out, installed siding, dug foundations, built decks, and numerous other home repair projects.
Our week long mission trips allow us a chance to learn about God, serve others, and grow closer together as a group.
