Acolytes

What: Assisting the priest[s] during services

Adult Education

What: Information on programs, events and other pertinent community situations as well as traditional Biblical and church related topics. 
When: The Sunday morning forum held in the parish hall between services as well as occasional weekday offerings.

Altar Guild

What: What: Members of the Altar Guild are responsible for preparation of the sanctuary for all services. All aspects of the preparation for worship are covered by these volunteers from cleaning linens, polishing silver and brass, putting up hymn numbers, filling candles and preparing the elements of consecration.

Members are also responsible for seeing that the altar is prepared for all weddings, funerals and baptisms.
Who: It is a quiet and very personal way to serve. Both men and women are welcome.  
When: Altar Guild members work in teams one Saturday/Sunday per month to set-up on Saturday morning and clean-up on Sunday morning.

Children's Ministries

What: Activities for children that include Sunday School, Nursery Care, Children's Chapel, Communion Class, Vacation Bible School and Wednesday evening activities.

Chrismon Construction Company

What: Presently, the Chrismons we are making are Latin Crosses for Confirmations and Baptism Shells for Baptisms. 
Who: Newcomers are welcome. 
When: Chrismon Construction Company meets at 1705 Duval Drive every Monday. Please call before coming because we have occasional last minute cancellations.

What: Our quick notification system by e-mail for reminders, breaking news, changes in venue or time, weather news -- anything that needs to be communicated quickly. Franciscan Newsletter

What: The major printed communication piece for the entire parish, incorporating news from clergy, staff, vestry, and parish organizations. A printed copy is mailed to every parish family; The current issue and archives are available on the St. Francis website.
Who: Any parishioner or parish organization is welcome to submit articles, ideas for articles, or news bullets.
Schedule: We publish monthly about the 1st of the month except for a combined summer issue for June and July. The deadline for submitting material is the 20th of the month prior to publication. Send submitted material, both text and photos (.jpg format preferred) to Franciscan@stfrancisgreensboro.org.

Junior Choir

What: We sing at church monthly and are the choir for the 4:30 pm Christmas Eve service.  Membership in the choir provides a wonderful opportunity for young people to be a part of the church service, meet others their ages, and learn more about the role of music in our Episcopal tradition.
Who: 3rd Grade - High School 
When: The Junior Choir rehearses on Sunday afternoons from 4:30-5:30pm from Labor Day to the end of May. Schedule

What: Parishioners assist the clergy by serving the chalice at the Eucharist. 
Who: Ministers are appointed by the rector and licensed by the bishop for three years.

Memorial Garden Committee

What: The Memorial Garden Committee oversees the Garden in the front of the Church, taking care of plantings, flowers and general changes to the area.   Suggestions and help are always welcomed!

Pathways Dinner Club

What: Pathways Dinner Club is searching for fellow Franciscans to join a Dinner Club dedicated to serving others. This fantastic outreach opportunity provided to St. Francis Episcopal Church occurs the first Friday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Pathways Center, 3517 North Church Street. Pathways is a Greensboro Urban Ministries shelter program that services homeless families. Pre-cooked meals and desserts to serve up to 35 people are provided by the Painted Plate and Food Lion.
Who: We need 2 families per month to serve these meals at the Pathways Center. The tasks associated with serving these meals require participating children to be 8 years of age or older.

Piecemakers

What: The Franciscan Piecemakers make quilts for Project Linus, a nonprofit national organization. Supported through gifts and donations, their mission is to provide a sense of security, love, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.  

We have been very busy over the last few months. For Project Linus Make a Blanket Day, the group donated 92 quilts. The quilts will be given to children in need who live in Guilford County.
Who: Experienced and novice craftsperson's

Prayer Shawl Ministry

What: The Prayer Shawl Ministry began in January 2005. Knitters and crocheters (present or wannabes) meet once a week to make prayer shawls. The shawls then are blessed and given to people who have special challenges in their lives. Hundreds of prayer shawls have been created, blessed, then presented to folks going through a transition in his or her life. The needleworkers buy their own yarn and share yarn purchased with donations.

Property Committee

What: The Property Committee works to meet the current physical needs of the church campus and to attempt to anticipate and plan for future needs, under the charge of the Vestry.
Who: The Property Committee consists of 12 parishioners, alternating three year terms.

What: The Savvy Seniors is a social group that meets for various activities throughout the year.

Senior Choir

What: The Senior Choir leads worship at the 10:30 service, with a brief warm-up at 10:00. Additionally we sing on high feast days and services during Holy Week. High School and College students are welcome.

New members are welcome!
When: Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30. During the summer months (June until Labor Day) we rehearse on Sunday mornings, one hour and fifteen minutes before the beginning of the 10:00 service.
