Welcome to St. Francis Episcopal Church! Through our Christian Formation programs we hope to nurture the spiritual formation and growth of our parishioners by meeting them where they are on their path of Christian formation.
Our primary goal? To bear witness to Christ and Christ’s way in the world.

For Children: Our children’s ministries seek to honor the child’s innate sense of God’s presence. We use teaching methods that help children identify and express that innate sense so that it can be explored and strengthened. Our faith formation leaders tell the Biblical stories and The Story using classical Christian language. By sharing the histories and traditions of God’s people children begin to feel connections to the family of God and grow in an eagerness to express their faith and live into it. Godly Play and The Transforming Bible Study are but two ways in which we explore and strengthen faith; we encourage bonds of fellowship, service and yes…FUN!
Have a flair for story telling? A love of singing or music? An energy for inquisitive young minds? Then perhaps you may be called to volunteer in the Children’s Ministries at St. Francis. You need not have children to volunteer just a sincere love of Christ and wish to make Christ known. If interested in learning more about opportunities to serve, please email Susan Elam at susan@stfrancisgreensboro.org, or call the church office at 336.288.4721.
For Youth: Our middle school, confirmation and high school ministries continue along the path of faith formation as youths struggle to develop what educator and author Kenda Creasy Dean calls an "articulate faith." We use teaching methods that acknowledge this age groups growing capacity to process complex and abstract thought. Faith formation leaders often pull from contemporary cultural tools of film, music and of course personal experience and then discuss it through the lens of our Christian faith.
For Adults: Our adult forum classes bring together a diverse mix of guest speakers whose expertise in areas of theology, arts and culture, sports, health and government combine with practical theology in thought provoking ways. Forums often leave parishioners with a challenge and charge by asking, "So what does this mean to me as a disciple of Christ and how do I to respond in a way that is faithful?"
Ever troubled by a particular sermon or biblical text? Ever had questions about a sermon during a worship service? Do you have a deep passion for God’s revealed Word? Do you love small group study? If you answered yes to any or all, you may enjoy our clergy led Adult Lectionary class. This class offers an in depth look at the scripture appointed for that Sunday. Held in-between the two worship hours, this class gives parishioners an opportunity to access the biblical text in a conversational setting.
