Letter From Senior Warden

I extend a warm welcome to you from St. Francis Episcopal Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. We are an active and lively congregation striving to live and minister according to the Franciscan traditions of simplicity, compassion, and hope. Our spiritual community is open and receiving to all who seek to know and worship God and serve others in the spirit of the Christ.

Over 800 members call St. Francis "home." The celebration of the Eucharist is basic to most of our worship services. Other activities of the church include educational programs, social gatherings, and a variety of ministries that provide a myriad of opportunities to grow spiritually and care for those in our church family, our community, and beyond.

After welcoming the Rev. Michael Moulden and the Rev. Jamie L’Enfant as our priests in 2007, we are especially engaged this year in a visioning process to discern what God calls us to do in the next 5-10 years and to develop a strategic plan for accomplishing these goals. Led by our Vision Team, we are meeting together often in small groups to share our hopes and dreams. We’d be glad for you to share in the excitement of this endeavor.

St. Francis is widely known in the area for its beautiful setting and gardens on Lawndale Drive and for its annual gigantic book sale (May 1-3, 2008), all proceeds of which are dedicated to outreach ministries. Feel free to explore our website and then come and see for yourself what a special community of friends and believers we are! If you have questions, I encourage you to contact me by telephone or email.

Faithfully yours,

Mariana Newton
