Central to our Episcopal faith is the ministry of lay persons to represent Christ and His Church. Remembering the words of our Lord when He said; "When you have done it unto the least of these, thy brethren, you have done it unto me."
The purpose of the St. Francis Outreach Committee is to express and enhance, through its parishioners, the mission and ministry of the two branches of Outreach. The first branch is our Diocese in which our participation and giving as a parish are critical for its continued work. The second branch is the participation and giving from within our own parish.
We attempt to “reach out” to unmet human needs within our local, national, and international communities with our time, talents, and resources. The committee identifies and responds to those needs, reflecting the desires of the parish, the vestry and the clergy. Our role is to encourage involvement and raise awareness of opportunities in which parishioners can participate.
The Outreach Committee also serves as stewards of church funds allocated by the vestry and resulting from profits of our annual Book Sale. We research requests for funds and other needs and make informed decisions for distribution. These recommendations are then sent to the parish vestry for concurrence. Our goal is to reach the most people and meet the most needs with funds available.
Many members of our parish family directly donate their time to the greater Greensboro community, involved with activities such as: housing, food projects, self-help programs, youth missions, health care, and other programs which work to improve the quality of life of those in need. Working with others within our Christian community and encouraging involvement of our parishioners are important in meeting the growing needs of others.
Ongoing Opportunities |
Outreach Honor Cards |
| Outreach Honor Cards are available in the church office. For a donation of $5 to the Outreach Fund you get a card sent to your honoree as a gift. This is actually a way to give 2 gifts: one to your honoree and one to those less fortunate in our community who will benefit from grants from the St. Francis Outreach Fund. Get several! |

Food Drive
Thank you St Francis volunteers and shoppers for making the Urban Ministry Food Drive this past Friday and Saturday a huge success! We were able to collect 3420 pounds of food and $36 in cash. WOW! So may wonderful people signed up to work 2 hour shifts and many more called to act as backups if needed. Many parishioners shopped at the Lawndale Harris Teeter during those 2 days and contributed bags full of food. Again thank you so much for supporting this worthwhile ministry. |
