The 50th Annual St. Francis Book Sale was a great success! It was held on Thursday May 1st through Saturday May 3rd this year. In the past the book sale has been Wednesday through Friday. To allow more people to be available to shop AND volunteer, the book sale committee elected to change the days of the event. It worked as hoped. The 50th annual book sale earned over $35,000 after expenses for outreach!
We had over 50,000 volumes for sale, ranging from paperbacks to our new category "Select" (hardcovers in excellent condition dating from 1995 to present) to "Old and Rare". Every room of the Parish Hall was filled with books!
We Love Our Volunteers!
We couldn’t have done it without our volunteers! We appreciate everyone’s work to help put on this event. Many thanks to those that donated books, sorted books all year long, unloaded the trailers, set up tables and books, worked a shift (or two!) at the sale or made food for the volunteers! Our volunteers are all dedicated, and you do not need to be a Church member to participate. No special skills are required, just a desire to participate and be a part of a very special event. We start back to work right after the book sale ends and we’re already collecting and sorting for the 51st Book Sale. You can drop your books off at the garage any time or join the sorters in the garage on Saturday mornings at 9am during the summer.
50 Years of Helping Others!
As always the proceeds from the book sale will benefit community organizations. A few of the organizations that received donations last year were Habitat for Humanity, Joseph’s House, HealthServ, Episcopal Prayer Breakfast at Weaver House, Freedom House, Pathways, Salvation Army, Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Child, What If Foundation and Mission Trips.
Our 51st Annual Book Sale is sure to be as great! It will be held May 7, 8, and 9th, 2009. We’ll see you there!
