Letters and Homilies to Hellenized Christians
The Last Writings of Paul, John and Peter
Utilizing socio-rhetorical tools of analysis, this study will place each biblical text within its socio-religious milieu and seek to understand the specific issues that confronted the audience of each letter or homily. In addition to covering the standard questions of authorship, date and provenance, we will examine the rhetorical strategies employed by each writer. Finally, we will seek to "bridge the gap" between the 1st century and our own in order to explore contemporary issues related to the church today.

Sunday Morning Bible Study
September 14th - Advent
Library - 9:15am
"Ordinary Time"
Please join us each Sunday morning until Advent during our Christian Education Hour at 9:15am in the Library. We will engage in small group bible study and explore how the Gospel speaks to the ministry God calls us to in our daily work and living. Each week we will join in a close reading of one of the lectionary texts as they follow our current church season after Pentecost known as "Ordinary Time". Our group reading and reflection will bring us closer to those "ordinary" details of God's presence in our everyday lives as we grow closer in an understanding of the faith we share as a community.
This group will be led by James Joiner, our diocesan intern for the season who is exploring his call to Holy Orders with us. By joining in this group each week you will join with him in exploring his own vocation within teaching, pastoral care, and leadership in the Church.
Additionally, a Thursday night option is available, at 7:00pm, if there is enough interest expressed. If you are interested in a Thursday night bible study, please email James at jmjoiner@gmail.com, and an announcement will be made later if there is enough interest to form a second Thursday night group.
